NorthPark Mall hauls, Shiseido, tokidoki, gelato +

*Very Pic Heavy Post!*

*~Happy Friday!~*

North Park Mall

To celebrate a day off after and in anticipation of a busy work week, Darren and I spent some quality time together -- at the mall. :) It was actually a joint trip since we were also on the hunt for a pair of good frames for his much needed eyewear update...(unsuccessful T_T)

NorthPark is a higher-end mall in Dallas. Lots of new shops opened up in the past few years to attract a younger crowd so basically it has something for everybody now!

I don't understand why they have CACTUS Gardens everywhere. Seems so dangerous!!! Darren thinks they are real. :(

Cactus garden

I actually like this cactus - pretty & pink!

GELATO!!!

Paciugo gelato

I like Fruity flavors more than milky flavors ♥

Shiseido

I started off my journey at the Shiseido counter at Macy's they were advertising for their bi-annual gift with purchase (GWP)! With the purchase of 2 items (one being a skin care treatment product) you get a free bag with 5 additional skincare samples tailored to your specific skin type!

Free skincare gift

The lady at the counter, Yujin, was super sweet - unlike many other sales ladies, she WASN'T pushy and was attentive & super thorough. She even took out this crazy machine to test my "skin-type" -- which surprisingly was healthy and not super dehydrated as I had suspected it to be -- I just have some redness in my cheeks that has been present since I was young:

Here she is with the skin-scanner pretending to Kareoke lol!

Shiseido MUA Yujin

After talking about skincare for awhile, she mentioned that she had worked for SK-II for a a few years, but has worked for Shiseido for more than 14 years - she really trusts their products as the line has been around since it was started by a Japanese Pharmacist in 1872! :D

Total haul: 2 items + Free Gift with Purchase
  • White Lucent Brightening & Moisturizing gel (for nighttime use)
  • My STAPLE - 34 Sun Compact Protection Foundation refill

LUSH

LUSH

I wanted the Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar, but decided against it last minute. I'm going to try to use up some of my regular lotions before trying out the solid type. Also, I was disappointed in being able to select things in person while inside of the store -- if you're ever trying to decide on products here based on smell, GOOD LUCK as the store is overwhelmingly saturated in one big scent! (they need more coffee beans)

Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar

Still went with the two other purchases, but was able to get one as a free sample!

T for Toes

Total haul: 1 item + Free Sample
  • T for Toes - Dusting powder
  • Free sample of Fresh Farmacy Cleanser

tokidoki

I remember tokidoki did a special collaboration with Smashbox awhile ago...didn't know they came back recently with a NEW LINE altogether until I heard a few other blogettes raving about it!

Tokidoki display header

Everything comes in a dizzying array of colors & of course, *adorable* packaging

Tokidoki display

Tokidoki display angle

I especially the design of the lipglosses. Very unique, sturdy & CUTE. This one is called "Strawberry Latte" and smells of strawberry syrup.

Tokidoki lipgloss

The top of each lipgloss comes with a cute character topper suspended in liquid and showered in sparkly cutout confetti

Tokidoki snowglobe lipgloss

The applicator wand is unconventional - a flexible silicone paddle-wand replaces the standard brush or sponge applicator

Tokidoki lipgloss applicator wand

The packaging was so darn cute but all the gloss colors are designed to be sheer - since I'm not a gloss person to begin with, it can go on hold for awhile. :) I regret not at least testing it out, but I already was making a big enough dent in my wallet...

Instead, I opted for something I would use more often. The Tokidoki Luminosa Powder in "Kabuki" was calling my name! Kabuki is a pretty, buildable, subtle highlighter. It was very much an impulse buy and probably a product that is easily 'dupable' - but alas, it was on sale!

Anybody notice that the design in stores is slightly different than one featured on the website?

Sephora Brand

Sephora ColorPlay sign

One thing I wasn't expecting to purchase was the Sephora Collection Color Play 5-in-1 palette - a large sign caught my eye in the front of the store and the display looked so pretty - the color selection was ginormous!

Image from http://www.honeymag.com

What got me though was the POP OUT PALETTE design...unlike the Coastal Scents 88 palette (which I own but would never dream of traveling with) - the individual 'sets' of shadows/blush/liner pop out of the case and fit snuggly in a travel-sized case with mirror:

I love the fact that each set of 10 eyeshadows, blush & 2 lippies has a "story"

- Dinner in Paris: Grays and blacks
-Coffee in New York: Browns
-Shopping in Milan: Purples and pinks
-Tango in Buenos Aires: Blues and greens
-Clubbing in Tokyo: Baby blues, pinks, and yellows

Novelty aside, when the MUA applied some of the shadows to my skin, the results were actually impressive! The trick to these shadows is using a good primer - we used Urban Decay Primer Potion! The shadows she applied were pigmented, buttery smooth, and all around gorgeous! I know people have complained about the quality of the Sephora palettes in the past - but I was thoroughly impressed with the eyeshadow quality! (The blushes are more sheer and kind of hit-or-miss)

Total haul: 4 items @ 15% off
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion (I know it's 30% off F&F, but instant gratification + no shipping)
  • Korres Lip Saver - 3 for the price of 2! (Guava, Mango, Pomegranate)
  • Tokidoki Luminosa Powder in Kabuki
  • Sephora Color Play 5-in-1

Retail Therapy - Mall Haul at Sephora & Dillard's

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for showing such positivity & support over my work rant! Your kind words really helped lift me up...I feel so loved! *^_^* Further proof that you are not only beautiful on the outside, but on the inside as well!

***

Today was one of my off days, so after bumming around the house for awhile, I decided to head to the local mall! I ended up spending most of my time inside of Dillard's - an 'anchor store' at the mall 5 mins from my house! It's very much like a Macy's...lots of fashion, cosmetics, homestuffs and the like. I found the most beautiful Waterford Bone China Teacups on sale for 70% with an extra 40% off!!!

Cute little Seahorse logo

This one is called "Ballet ribbons"

...and this one is called "Ballet Jewels"
Ballet jewels waterford

Kind of a random purchase - but they are so pretty, elegant & ladylike...I might just start a collection! :D

It seems like all of Dillard's is having an EXTRA 40% OFF sale this week! This includes Cosmetics!!! I kind of went crazy because I have been on the lookout for new smokey eye colors since I can't seem to find my favorite MAC smokey eye paletteanywhere ;_;.

One of the lovely lady bloggers I follow mentioned how much she adored TheBalm's Shady Lady Palette! I was thinking about buying the palette but I freaked out when I saw the individual shadows on sale at Dillard's for a fraction of the original price!!! (If you are near a Dillard's, swing by and check it out!) I swatched all the colors on my fingertips - SUPER pigmented, shimmery, soooo pretty! Plus, the darker shades can double as liners - which is a nice option. Alongside the shadows, another sweet girl (who possibly dropped by at the sight of me furiously digging through the shadow bins) suggested I try the "Hot Mama" blusher/shadow by TheBalm as well...supposedly, it's somewhere in between NARS "Orgasm" and NARS "Deep throat" ... can't wait to try it out!!!

TheBalm haul

Hard Candy Rock n Roll palette is going back to Wal*Mart. I'm holding onto the High Maintenance though.

SEPHORA

They were sold out of the Korres Lip Saver Roller -- 3 pretty lip butters for the price of 2!!! Good deal...but all gone ;_; All the colors I want too! Eki has a nice review of the lip butters here.

However, I was able to swatch some of the blush colors from the New Tarina Tarantino line I mentioned awhile back. I reaaaallly liked the Parasol blush - so it came home with me.

Tarina Tarantino compact open

The packaging is too cute!!! I love how the compact is nestled in a little pink organza pouch!

I will review ALL of these + swatches soon!

Valentines dinner/Jury Duty/Giveaway!

*Super pic heavy!*

Back to the mall for Day 2 of Valentines Day Weekend

My bf took me to the Dallas version of The Oceanaire (there is also a restaurant in the Houston Galleria - we went there for our 1 year anniversary!)

It's a kind of fancy "seafood room" which supports *sustainable* seafood, which is nice :)

The Oceanaire

Ambiance

They had a special 4-course Valentines Day meal! Time to get my NOM on!

Foie gras

Appetizer - "I love you Foie ever!" I have NEVER tried foie gras before. Duck/Goose liver seems a little intimidating, but it was actually REALLY GOOD. It is mildly flavored and creamy. If I wasn't any the wiser, I might have mistook it for CHEESE...and I love cheese. Soooo good with the balsamic "caviar", toast points (why does fancy food have to have crazy names?) pistachio butter, and grapes!

Tuna Poke

Appetizer #2 - Hawaiian style Ahi poke on nori/wakame crips w/ seaweed salad. Fresh, delicious, tuna - but SAD, they failed to mention this dish contained CILANTRO. I HATE cilantro. I swear it tastes like dish soap! Whhhhyyyy???

Strawberry fields forever salad
Soup/Salad - "Strawberry Fields Forever" - Mmmmm...who can resist goat cheese, fresh sweet strawberries, spring mix salad & champagne vinagrette? Light & tangy! A+++++

Oh Honey
Entre - They had all types of cute names on the menu for all the dishes -- this one was called "Oh Honey" and was delicious black cod doused in honey soy & lemon ginger butter! It was sooooo soft and buttery -- and there was so freaking much of it!!! I never have gotten so full off of tasty fancy food, the portions are usually miniscule!!!

Valentines Day Dessert

Dessert - Chunky munky Creme brulee, Puff pastry w/ Strawberries & Grand Marnier, and a rich chocolate truffle cake with raspberry creme anglaise. It sounded soooo good, but it was actually a little disappointing. My boyfriend thought the Raspberry creme anglaise around the chocolate cake looked like a large intestine - How am I supposed to eat after that??? >:(

After dinner, we had to 'walk things off' -- the mall was closed, but it was still so fun to wander around! Felt like we had the whole mall to ourselves...Earlier that day, Darren was scoping things out and noticed all these bodyguards outside of Footlocker so I'm guessing there were some NBA 'celebrities' here after all!

Louis Vuitton had a small tribute to "NBA All Star Weekend!"

I Juicy Couture -- but good to honest, their stuff is rather overpriced...but everything is super girly and pink and sparkly... *sigh*

Court house

Today I went to the imposing courthouse above for JURY DUTY. Reported at 8:30am to do my civic duty - they were scaring us with reports that some of the trials could involve the Death Penalty (Texas!!!) or cases involving billions! O_O It must be my lucky day because my name wasn't called & I was let out early!!!! *big sigh of relief* No more worries for the next 3 years!!!

** -- Hope my luck continues -- **

Nikki is sponsoring a B.B. Cream Giveaway! I've actually been curious about this Korean BB cream craze, I've heard a lot about it from my co-workers & now here in blogworld!

Check it out & Good luck!

Happy Valentines Day & Happy Asian New Year!

Hope you all have a very Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day

...and maybe more importantly, a very HAPPY ASIAN NEW YEAR!!!!

Hope all of you get to enjoy some good food & good company!

I am having a pretty good Valentines Day weekend so far...No more snow, but still cold so just a big cozy sweater and skinny jeans today:

Cozy sweater

I braved The Galleria Mall here in Dallas yesterday to see if I could spot any celebrities thanks to the "All Star Weekend" Game in town. I wasn't able to spot any stars but MAN there were A TON of people at the mall. Maybe everyone had the same idea?

I liked how they put up tons of pink, red, and white balloons to celebrate Valentines Day! You can see the 3 levels of shopping insanity and the ice rink on the bottom floor complete with pink & red lights in heart shapes!

After checking out a few stores, we decided to pop into Hot Topic to check out the cool gamer t-shirts.

I saw this t-shirt and LOLed - it's kind of rude!

Funny tshirt

I never knew how much Hello Kitty stuff Hot Topic sells! It's not just any Hello Kitty stuff -- it's unique and exclusive stuff! For example, they seem to stock a TON of Hello Kitty NERD items, which I love:

Lip gloss with her boyfriend, Dear Daniel - also in nerd form! Love how Hello Kitty is blushing!
Hello kitty nerd lipgloss

Glitter Wallet w/ cute backside

Hello Kitty nerd glitter wallet

Hello kitty nerd glitter wallet back

Cute necklace I couldn't pass up -- It actually is two separate necklaces that connect so she can wear the glasses! Darren spoils me too much...

*Separate*

*Together*

Darren tends to be a little claustrophobic so we did a little light shopping before bolting home.

Oh! And btw, if you are ever looking for an AWESOME BLUSH, check out NARS in Deep Throat. If the name doesn't make you blush, at least the product will haha. I like it much more than Orgasm, much more pigment and less crazy glitter everywhere.

NARs deep throat

As for the real Valentines Day, Darren and I have a deal -- no crazy expensive jewelry or even flowers this time around -- we're both trying to pay off BIG student loans from school so we're taking it easy with gift exchange -- well -- kind of. I splurged on his gift this year because I was a horrible girlfriend and didn't get him a birthday OR Christmas present this year. For some reason, Valentines Day has always been my "makeup" day. :(

So for the rest of the night, we played with his new toy! A Wii + Zelda Twilight Princess. We may be 4 years late on the bandwagon, but 3 hours of gameplay feels like nothing! I love RPGs. :) For all the Wii fans, the Official Nintendo Wii-mote + MotionPlus comes out in limited edition PINK today!
